Syllabus
Course Description:
The lab portion of this course covers basic aspects of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Access), with an overview of how to create a simple webpage with the help of useful web design software. Towards the end of the course, we will elaborate more on how to surf the Internet with the help of different search engines, with an emphasis on useful tips and tools.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the course, you should be able to:
- Use Excel to execute certain functions.
- Create forms and reports within Access.
- Design simple Web page and link it to the Internet.
- Search the Internet wisely and sufficiently.
Software:
We will use MS Office 2010 for the first half of the semester. Later in the semester, we will use Dreamweaver 8 to complete the assigned project.
Project:
There will be a small project at the end of the tenth week of the semester. It is an individual project, so each student should submit her own work. The project requires you to download a free trial version of Dreamweaver 8 to build your own website. The website should cover ANY subject that interests you the most. You will present your designed website in front of the class on the submission date. All the project details will be discussed before the project due date.
