Introduction
Recent studies have implicated dietary factors in the causation and prevention of many chronic non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, cancer and renal
diseases (Boutayeb and Boutayeb, 2005). Protein is an essential nutrient necessary for maintaining good health.
Saudis customarily consume large amounts of animal protein in their diet. The effects of animal protein on the renal function and histological structure have not been fully investigated and can't be experimented on human beign. Therefore, this study is designed to investigate the effects of high animal protein diet consumption on renal function and histology in rats.
