List of Programs used in this course:
- Enviroland: An Interactive Computer Tool for Teaching Environmental Chemistry and Hydrology.
- PM Calculator: Particulate Matter Calculator (Microsoft Access version).
- PHREEQC: A Computer Program for Speciation, Batch-Reaction, One-Dimensional Transport, and Inverse Geochemical Calculations.
- MINEQL+: a chemical equilibrium model capable of calculating aqueous speciation, solid phase saturation states, precipitation-dissolution, and adsorption.
- ChemEQL: A Program to Calculate Chemical Speciation Equilibria,Titrations, Dissolution, Precipitation, Adsorption, Kinetics, pX-pY Diagrams, Solubility Diagrams.Libraries with Complexation Constants For MacOSX, Windows, Linux, Solaris.
- WRPLOT_dos: A wind rose depicts the frequency of occurrence of winds in each of 16 direction sectors (north,north-northeast, northeast, etc.) and six wind speed classes for a given location and time period.
- WRPLOT_EPA: an interactive program that generates wind rose statistics and plots for selected meteorological stations for user-specified date and time ranges.
- WRPLOT View: wind rose depicts the frequency of occurrence of winds in each of the specified wind direction sectors and wind speed classes for a given location and time period. Obtain from "Lakes Environmental" site, press here, helpfile.
- Screen View: can be used to estimate worst-case ground level concentrations for a single source as well as concentrations in the cavity zone, and concentrations due to inversion break-up and shoreline fumigation. Obtain from "Lakes Environmental" site,
- Visual Plumes: simulates single and merging submerged aquatic plumes in arbitrarily stratified ambient flow and buoyant surface discharges.
- VISJET-Visualization and Lagrangian Modeling for rosette plumes in an ambient current. It is a Windows-based flow visualization tool to portray clearly the evolution and interaction ofmultiple buoyant jets discharged at different angles to the ambient current
- EFDC: The Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code (EFDC) is a multifunctional surface water modeling system, which includes hydrodynamic, sediment-contaminant, and eutrophication components.
- NETPATH-WIN: An Interactive User Version of NETPATH, a Geochemical
- and Isotopic Mass-Balance Model. It is frequently used to construct quantitative models of the chemical evolution of waters along real or hypothetical flow paths in aquifers or other hydrologic systems using hydrochemical data. These models provide important information on geochemical processes and water-rock reactions that can be used to place constraints on numerical models of ground-water flow.
- PEST: a model-independent parameter estimation (PEST) package. The parameter estimation algorithm used by PEST is based on a robust variant of the Gauss-Marquardt-Levenberg method. However, PEST also includes advanced regularization functionality which assists in the calibration of highly parameterized models. It also includes a nonlinear predictive analyzer that allows the calculation of the uncertainty associated with a particular model prediction, while maintaining the model in a calibrated
- QUAL2K (or Q2K): a river and stream water quality model. Software information, obtain a copy.
- RESRAD: Residual Radioactivity (model), check the site, press here. Several versions are available: RESRAD 6.5 , RESRAD-BUILD, RESRAD-BIOTA, RESRAD-RECYCLE, RESRAD-OFFSITE, RESRAD-CHEM, RESRAD-BASELINE and RESRAD-ECORISK.
- SVOFFICE-2009: Finite Element Modeling Software, check the site of SoilVision Systems Ltd at, press here. Several versions are available: gethelp file.
