Implant or the natural tooth

To Extract or Not to Extract?

The extraction of teeth has generally been considered undesirable and as a treatment of last resort due to the limitations of alternative prosthodontic replacements such as bridges and removable prostheses. In recent years however, this paradigm has been challenged by emerging trends in implant dentistry. This has led to concern regarding the extraction of teeth which may otherwise be managed with sound contemporary endodontic and prosthodontic treatment procedures.

Currently several papers were published to help the practitioner in the decision making process with regard to the compromised tooth. Here are some of them.

1- Implant or the natural tooth  a contemporary treatment planning dilemma.

2- To Extract or Not to Extract? Factors That Affect Individual Tooth Prognosis.
