نبذة تعريفية / مختصر السيرة الذاتية

1) Dr. Amer Mahmood received his MSc from Copenhagen University in the field of autoimmune destruction of beta cells in Type 1 diabetic patients. Dr. Amer obtained his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences in the field of human Embryonic Pluripotent Stem Cell research and bone biology from the University of Southern Denmark. Where he successfully differentiated human embryonic stem cells into mesoderm and further in bone, fat, and cartilage forming mesenchymal stem cells. He did his post-doctoral fellowship at the Biomedical Research Center, Department of The Molecular Endocrinology & Stem Cell Research Unit (KMEB, University of Southern Denmark), where he studied the expression of human DLK-1 a novel regulator of bone mass that mediates estrogen deficiency–induced bone loss in mice. Dr. Amer was Assistant Professor and Principle Investigator in Stem cell research at King Saud University in the Stem Cell Unit Department of Anatomy. In 2017 Dr. Amer promoted to Associate Professor of Stem cell and regenerative medicine, his recent research focus on the field of Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine particular in skeletal-bone disorders. Dr. Amer has also been working extensively in the field small RNA including micro-RNA and siRNA in addition to Nano-fibrous scaffold for bone-, blood vessel, and cartilage regeneration. Also, in one of his projects, his group is looking at differentiation of iPSCs into different mesodermal lineages. Dr. Amer’s group has also initiated the first clinical trial with adult stem cells in Saudi Arabia.

3) The areas of expertise of Dr. Amer Mahmood are Human Pluripotent Stem Cells, Adult Mesenchymal Stem Cells, Bone/cartilage regeneration, autoimmune diseases, non-coding RNA’s, gene knock down, Microarray, sequencing, data management, prost-graduate teaching and project management.
a) Dr. Amer Mahmood offers consultancy in the area of Molecular Biology, Stem Cell biology, Regenerative Medicine, 3D-Bioprinting, Adult Stem Cells, genetics and Stem Cell transplantation.
 
4) Dr. Amer Offers extensive training in:

  • All molecular biological techniques, including cloning, RT-PCR, Western, Cell Sorting, etc.
  • Mammalian Cell culture,
  • Pluripotent Stem Cell Culture, including IPSCs and hESCs, Stem Cell differentiation
  • Nano-scaffold use in regenerative medicine
