ITLS Instructor

Course Description:

This 16 hour course prepares EMS professionals to teach ITLS Provider courses. To participate, potential instructors must successfully complete the ITLS course they would like to teach, demonstrate instructor potential, and meet the following ITLS Alberta Chapter requirements:

• Obtain at least 86% on the written test in a provider course
• Obtain an excellent on the practical test in a provider course
• Be recommended to take an instructor course by an affiliate faculty member

If these items are accomplished, the following must be satisfied:

• Attend an ITLS instructor course
• Be monitored in a skills station, testing station, and giving a lecture, resulting in a “favourable evaluation"

Prerequisites:

• Current registration as a healthcare provider including first responder, EMR, EMT, physicians, physician assistants, paramedics, nurses or other allied health professional or other allied health professional
• Current ITLS Basic or Advanced Provider
