Artificial recharge is particularly problematic in arid regions mainly due to scarcity of the rainfall together with the high evaporation rate. Dam's reservoirs are widely used as recharge technique throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Recently, efforts have been made under King Fahd project for rainwater and runoff harvesting to increase groundwater recharge through artificially enhancing the infiltration rate. The present study evaluates the effectiveness of artificial recharge technique through a comparative study which involves quantification of infiltration before and after the construction of recharge wells. Resistivity survey was also carried out to examine hydrogeological setup beneath the reservoir. Water level recessions trend, from a reservoir in Central Saudi Arabia, were used to quantify and compare infiltrations after two different rainfall events.
