RAD 341 Image recording

Course Description: This course emphasizes on how the image is recorded on films, and technical quality assurance of image production.

Course Specifications

Objectives:
1.  What is the main purpose for this course?
Upon completion of the course, the students will be able to understand the basic principles of image formation and image recording and improve the quality of radiographic imaging techniques.
List the component of an x-ray tube & their basic function.
At the end of the semester the student should be able to:
-Describe how x-rays are produced in an x-ray tube
-Outline the basic construction of an x-ray file and cassette
-Explain how radiographic images are produced
-Recognize factors affecting radiographic image quality
-Describe steps of film processing and dark room layout
-Recognize image artifacts, their causes & hoe to prevent them
-Explain the steps of digital radiography and the difference between digital & conventional radiography

2.  Briefly describe any plans for developing and improving the course that are being implemented.  (e.g. increased use of IT or web based reference material,  changes in content as a result of new research in the field)
      Basic knowledge gained in the course will be developed  through an  increased use of  practical training in the darkroom, imaging rooms with  quality control  testing equipment as per latest published material.  Introducing Digital imaging
