Course Objectives

By the end of the course, students should be able to:

  • Analyze words by dividing them into component parts: roots, prefixes, and suffixes
  • Compose medical terms out of affixes and roots
  • Tell the meaning of medical terms
  • Relate medical terms to the structure and function of the human body
  • Be aware of spelling and pronunciation problems
  • Compare and contrast different types of medical texts
  • Reproduce the source text in target language
  • Get familiar with different grammatical structures in medical fields
