CEN 491 Selected Topics in Computer Engineering (Introduction to Wireless and Mobile Networks)
Course description:
Introduction to Wireless and Mobile Networks: Fundamental concepts in mobile wireless: RF propagation and fading, multiple access FDMA/TDMA/CDMA, cellular concept, channel assignment, power control, scheduling, handoff management. Cellular network architecture, common standard technologies: 2G/GSM, 3G/UMTS/HSPA and 4G/LTE cellular systems. Wireless local area and personal networks: IEEE801.11 and Bluetooth. Mobility issues in wireless networks and Mobile IP protocol.
Prerequisites:
CEN 342, CEN 343, CEN444.
