Project (1) title: A test of the Ecological Valence Theory of Colour Preference.
Principal Investigator: Dr. Abdul Al-Rasheed, King Saud University
Collaborator: Dr. Anna Franklin, University of Surrey
Summary of project
Decades of research has established that some colours are more likely to be preferred than others. However, only recently have researchers started to ask why we have these colour preferences and how they come about. This project aims to test a recent theory of colour preference to see whether it can account for variation in preference across cultures. The findings will have implications for our understanding of colour preference, as well as broader debates about the ‘universality’ of visual experience.
