Course Description:
This course, as a continuation to Eng. 320 (Linguistics I), constitutes part II of the introduction of students to the discipline of linguistics. It introduces the students to the areas of pragmatics, discourse analysis, psycholinguistics, and sociolinguistics.
5. Course Aims and Objectives:
1. Students must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the main topics within pragmatics and discourse analysis and of approaches to pragmatic analysis.
2. Students must demonstrate understanding of some of the main issues in psycholinguistics including language and the brain and language acquisition.
3. Students must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the main topics of sociolinguistics and language variation.

Attendance
This course will include in-class discussions and activities with other students and the instructor. Students who are not in class will not be able to live up to their responsibilities to either themselves or the rest of the class. Therefore, regular attendance is expected.
For every two times you are late, it will be considered one absence.
