Enterprise Web 2.0 in a consulting firm - P 3
For SharePoint, it is the most web 2.0 technology used in the company as it is the norm and X11 housed Microsoft products, so I can see it supported by organisation and get pushed form management more than others. This is way it is the most web 2.0 used for work related. But SharePoint is rarely used in a collaborative way even though it has blogging and wiki functionally. This web 2.0 has an advantages by been integrated to windows and office but more importantly its integration to the company work activity which push the adoption even though Shaperpoint suffer from some technical issues (not very user friendly, not intuitive, not very high quality web 2.0 features, slow). Those technical issues did not stoped employee from using it because they really need it to so their work.
The process of employees’ adoption and engagement with web 2.0 started to be clearer to me. This process changes and get influenced over time due to some issues. The influential issues could have three deferent types: drivers, enhancer (maybe I should call them moderators as they could enhance if they motivations (+) and the opposite if they are not motivations (-)) and plus or good to have things that does not cause less adoption if they do not exist. The drivers are necessary to exist at the beginning such organisational support, the existent of the need, employees valuing web 2.0 or awareness, web 2.0 champion, intuitive web 2.0 technology. The next type is moderators’ issue which comes after the drivers such as training, management engagement, other technological features (systems compatibility, reliability or system quality...), critical mass and other social issues. Then after that, there is plus issues like mobility feature some type of management support like incentives and recognitions. These three type of issues together influence employees adoption and engagement with web 2.0 and control the quality of the adoption (partial adoption/full adoption (collaborative and all the web 2.0 feature), frequent/less and active/passive)
