I am a Professor at the Information Technology Department, College of Computer and Information Sciences, and the first female Professor in the college.

I received my PhD degree in Computer Science from Southampton University, UK.

I have participated with more than 100 research papers in national and international symposiums, workshops and major IEEE and ACM conferences; In addition I published many ISI journal articles. I also participated in several national and international committees and won many research grants. In 2012, I won the Outstanding Paper Award from Emerald Publishing, and In 2015, I won King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Award for Translation for my Arabic translation of the book” Introduction to Arabic Natural Language Processing” by Nizar Habash..

Areas of Interest

My area of interest includes web technologies (Semantic Web and Web 2.0), Technology Enhanced Learning (e.g. E-learning, Adaptive Hypermedia, etc.), computer for people with special needs and Arabic language and computers. More specifically it includes the following paths:

1) Semantic Web, Ontologies, Mobile Web and Web 2.0 Technologies.
2) HCI and Computers for People with Special needs (Blinds and Deaf).
3) Computer and Arabic language.
4) Usability and Accessibility of websites.
5) E-Learning and Technology Enhanced Learning.
6) e-Government and its applications.
7) Social computing.
8) Internet of Things applicaitons.
