- Atomic structure and chemical bonding.
- Classification, nomenclature, physical properties, synthesis and reactions of the following organic classes: Aliphatic and Aromatic hydrocarbons, Alcohols, Ethers, Phenols, Aldehydes, Ketones, Carboxylic acids and derivatives, and Amines
- Structures and properties of carbohydrates, fats and oils.
Practical 
Experiments include : Mp determination, recrystallization, simple distillation, extraction, synthesis of alkenes and unsaturation test, alkyl halide nucl. substitution, reactions of alcohols, phenols, aldehydes, ketones, amines, carboxylic acids (and derivatives) and diazonium comps., saponefication, reactions of carbohydrates.
