MIS 437: Electronic Business

The course introduces the principles and concepts of e-commerce: the types of e-business solutions; planning and design of e-business solutions; e-business solutions in various business sectors; integrated information system, the legal and ethical dimensions of e-business solutions; risk management in e-business solutions; new trends in e-business solutions; cases studies in e-business solutions.

On successfully completing the module, the student will be expected to be able to:

  • Understand the concepts of electronic business
  • Understand E-business Infrastructure and strategy
  • Appreciate business models for Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) e-commerce.
  • Evaluate e-business scenarios and propose appropriate e-business investment strategies
  • Appreciate and understand topics related to e-business such as supply chain management, customer relationship management change management, E-procurement, and e-marketing.
  • Determine how best an organization can make strategic use of the facilities provided by the Information Superhighway in order to achieve its goals.
  • Describe the technology used for e-commerce business solutions.
  • Describe different marketing strategies on the Internet.
