This course introduces the students to the key concepts that make up human resource management practices within the organization. It emphasizes on the different options for attracting, retaining and developing employees and ensuring that organizations meet their legal and ethical obligations in relation to workforce management. This course will cover the practice of human resource management i.e., people and organization, factors affecting employee behavior, learning and development, performance and reward management, employee relations and well-being, international human resource management and policy & practice, human resource skills (toolkits) and diversity management. In this course students have the opportunity to develop their professional skills and knowledge in managing the employment cycle.
It is pertinent to mention this course also examines how an organization may increase its returns from its employees and how do they can maximize their outcomes from their work. It focuses an understanding of the management of people at work and emerging organizational challenges for human resource management practices within the organization. These challenges include: the trend of using contract staff and outsourcing; harnessing and sustaining organizational commitment; developing organizational cultures that are responsive to change; diversity in the workplace; harnessing innovation and knowledge management; globalization of industry; and changing workplace practices.
