Course objectives:     
The aim of the course is to train students to translate written texts. The skills to be developed are: 

  • Reading and comprehension of written source texts.
  • Analysing in detail the language and structure of the source text.
  • Teaching contextual meaning versus transliteration.
  •  Being exposed to texts from the Islamic field.
  • Learning the different strategies in translating Islamic texts. 
  • Being exposed to the different reliable recourses that can help in translating Islamic texts.

Developing the written language (especially English) and merging between communicating the meaning of the source text and preserving the structure of the target language.
Course Description:
Level 6 is considered level two translation; this is a focused translation course for the students. They will focus on the field only and will be exposed to different texts and strategies that will help them translate the Islamic texts from Arabic to English and vice versa.
Throughout the course, students are trained to read and understand English and Arabic texts, focusing mainly on the content, ideas and strategies. They are guided gradually, step by step, to merge between communicating the meaning of the source text and preserving the structure of the target language.
