مستخلص المنشور:

Over the years and across the global community, health systems have been developed to address the needs of families  and communities. Health systems consist of all organizations, individuals, and actions whose primary purpose is to promote, restore or maintain health (WHO, 2008). Health systems consists of six pillars: Service Delivery ( improving management and quality of services); Health Workforce (nurses and other key health professionals and lay workers); Health Information and Knowledge Systems ( generation and use of innovative and useful scientific and practical knowledge); Medical Products, Vaccines and Technologies ( access to essential drugs and
equipment); Health Financing (sustainable and adequate funding); and Leadership and Governance (providing stewardship, vision and oversight  for the system). Emerging innovations in nursing and health care unite through the pillars of a health system. Emphasis will be placed on Service  delivery, the nurse workforce, and leadership and governance. The World Health Organization’s 2008 Primary Health Care recommends reforms that will be discussed in this presentation along the with United States’ Institute of Medicine’s landmark report and nursing’s future and the opportunities that will unfold. Making the case for change is directly related to a nurse workforce that has the knowledge and skill sets to respond to a wide variety of complex health problems, in numerous settings, with diverse populations, and with limited resources. Research, evidence-based practice, and superb clinical skills and critical thinking must undergird the six pillars in any health system.
