Course Description & Syllabus 

Description: This course aims to enable the student to write any type of essay. There will be a lot of writing practice and research. They will mainly learn how to write a classification essay and a process analysis essay among other types of essays. Together in class, they will learn how to incorporate various sources of information and combine them to form a comprehensive coherent essay.Grammar will be emphasized throughout the course. Verb tenses, modifiers, rules of punctuation, relative pronouns, and prepositions will all be especially stressed.
The Objective:students must be able to write in the two given forms of essays and they should be able to learn how to differentiate between the different kinds of essays.

Refining Composition Skills Rhetoric and Grammar (5^th edition) by Reginal L.Smally, Mary K. Ruetten and Joann Rishel Kozyrev.(chapter 9 & 10)

• WEEK 1: Registration
• WEEK 2: Introduction
• WEEK 3: Classification Essay. Intro & basics.
• WEEK 4: Classification Essay,  Writing activity& worksheets 
• WEEK 5: Classification Essay,  Writing activity& worksheets
• WEEK 6: Classification Essay,  Writing activity& worksheets
• WEEK 7: Reviewing the student's essay
• WEEK 8: Process-Analysis Essay. Intro & basics.
• WEEK 9: *** BREAK ***
• WEEK 10: 1^st midterm exam
• WEEK 11: Process-Analysis Essay, Writing activity& worksheets
• WEEK12: Process-Analysis Essay, Writing activity& worksheets
• WEEK 13: Process-Analysis Essay, Writing activity& worksheets
• WEEK 14 : Reviewing the student's essay
• WEEK 15: 2^nd midterm exam
• WEEK 16 : Make up exam & Revision

 Grading Policy:

• Attendance, Home Assignments and participation : 10 points (Copying Home Assignment from another student will cost you your grade).
• 1^st and 2^nd In-Term Exam: 20 points each (Cheating will not be tolerated, there is NO excuses will be accepted).
• Term paper: 10 points (the student will write an essay about any topic she chooses).
• Final Exam: 40 points.
