OPTO442 Optometric Statistics

To understand and gain proficiency in the application of the following: descriptive statistics, basic concepts, probability distribution, correlation and regression, Pearson’s sample correlation coefficient and population and sample regression models, probability distribution and cumulative distribution function, normal distribution, standard normal distribution and sampling distribution, and analysis of variances (ANOVA) test such as side by side boxplots and construction of ANOVA table to compute the F and P-values. The topics to be covered also includes the art and science of gathering, analyzing and presenting experimental data. In addition, the student will be asked to look for an article, analyses and present their chosen topic in which basic aspects of statistics will be applied.
