<p>The goal of this course is to create the foundation for all other courses in health management department through the following objectives:<br />
•Demonstrate the knowledge of the fundamental and technical concepts of health management and apply it to decision-making in managing the healthcare organizations<br />
•Identify and use health management terminologies in oral and written communications.<br />
•Understand the other core disciplines of health care management: health economics, health care finance, health care policy, epidemiology, and/or public health to enhance decision-making in managing the healthcare organizations.<br />
•Perform effectively in work teams, both as a leader and a follower<br />
•Demonstrate knowledge of the primary ethical values underlying health care delivery (i.e., respect for persons, beneficence, non-malfeasance, and justice, in managerial decision-making)<br />
•Understand the benefits and challenges of managing a diverse staff in the healthcare field in addressing the implications of gender, ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, age, and lifestyle diversity within the service population<br />
The overall goal of the course will be to encourage students to integrate within objectives context, allowing them to manage organizational structure and process while enabling the organization’s central aim to achieve strategic goals and objectives. Specific learning objectives are developed within each thematic area</p>
