Website based collaboration technology referred to as wiki has been emerged in public as well as organisation use. The benefits from using this technology in collaboration knowledge creation and sharing are identified and reported. Yet, the research in adoption and diffusion of wikis is lacking. Therefore, this research aim is to identify the constructs that will impact the adoption of wiki technology.

There is difference between adoption and diffusion; as the adoption is the willingness to use some thing, diffusion is continues use. Relative advantage, compatibility and complexity are the main construct that affecting the technology innovation diffusion from the user perception. Relative advantage is the user perception about how wikis are better than previous tools. Whereas compatibility construct is the degree of user perception about how wikis are consistent with the existing values, needs, and past experiences of the users. Finally, complexity refers to wikis are difficult to use. Furthermore, innovation adoption in organisations is organizational change which is driven by other element like organisational culture. Therefore, organisational culture including attitudes, experiences, beliefs and values of an organization is the fourth factor affecting wikis diffusion. Finally, the fifth factor which is very specific for wikis is critical mass. It is the number of people participating in using wiki and building knowledge. As more people participate as more adoptable is the wiki.

The authors build the conceptual model of wiki diffusion via theoretical study of the literature of information system. Also, a pilot study has been conducted by the researchers to investigate the impact of the complexity and the relative advantages impact on wikis adoption. The pilot study has been conducted with some student’s participation. Students were required to complete a group project by using wiki as a tool for communication and collaboration.

The authors in this research have identified fife constructs that affect the adoption of wiki technology. Also they pointed out some direction to extend their research. For my project, this paper is very valuable as it shows the some constructs that might have higher impact on the adoption of one of the enterprise 2.0 tool. As this research adopted from diffusion of innovation theory to constructs the diffusion model, I am encouraged to adopt a theory like TAM and add some constructs which is related to the nature of enterprise 2.0 applications.
