Diagnostic value of recombinant human thyrotropin-stimulated iodine-123 whole-body scintigraphy in the follow-up of patients with differentiated thyroid cancer

PURPOSE:

Published data on recombinant human thyrotropin- (rhTSH-) stimulated iodine-123 (¹²³I) diagnostic whole-body scintigraphy (DxWBS) in differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) surveillance after initial treatment are limited. We sought to evaluate this modality's diagnostic value in this setting.

MATERIALS AND METHODS:

Combined theoretical studies of the optical characteristics of II-IV-V2 semiconductor thin films

The optical absorbance of four ternary thin films, i.e. MgSiP2, MgGeP2, MgSiAs2, MgGeAs2 have been
theoretically examined over a wide range of wavelength from 300 nm to 800 nm. The combination of
first-principle electronic structure calculations and the optical matrix approach for modeling the multilayer
assembly have been employed for theoretical studies. The analysis of the calculated absorbance
spectra at room temperature with unpolarized light and normal incidence, revealed that MgGeAs2 with
Phase-transition character in (Ba0.50,Sr0.50)TiO3 nanodots from first principles

investigate the character of phase transitions in (Ba0.50,Sr0.50)TiO3 (BST50) nanodots under ideal shortcircuit
(SC) and open-circuit (OC) electrical boundary conditions, and the corresponding properties are
subsequently compared to the properties of bulk BST50. Our calculations indicate that the ferroelectric
properties change dramatically when transitioning from 3D (bulk) to 0D (nanodot) systems under shortcircuit
The potential role of the sodium symporter gene polymorphism in the development of differentiated thyroid cancer

The sodium iodide symporter (NIS) (solute carrier family 5; SLC5A), mediates the active transport of iodine anion (I−) into thyroid follicular cells to facilitate thyroid hormone biosynthesis. Considering its fundamental role in thyroid function, our objective in this study is to explore its potential involvement in the pathogenesis of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC).
