A post harvest disease of Mangifera india fruit caused by Pestalotiopsis mangiferae, in Saudi Arabia

Mango (Mangifera indica) is one of the most important import fruit of Saudi Arabia. Brown black rots were found as a post harvest disease on the mango fruit. On the basis of the morphological characters, the fungus causing this disease was identified as Pestalotiopsis mangiferae (Henn). The disease was tested with the Kochs postulates. This is the first report of fruit rots caused by P. mangiferae (Henn) as a post harvest disease in Saudi Arabia

32- “Antimicrobial effect of local medicinal plant extracts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and search for their metabolites by gas cgromatography-mass spectrometric (GC-MS) analysis

The present study was designed to evaluate the anti-microbial properties of leaf extract from some local plants in Saudi Arabia belonging to seven different families which areRumex vesicarius from the family Polygonaceae, Datura stramonium from the familySolanaceae, Zygophyllum coccineum from the family Zygophyllaceae, Citrullus colocyuthus from the family Cueurbitaceae, Lasiurus scindicus from the family Poaceaeand Heliotropium digynum from the family Boraginaceae against seven human pathogenic bacteria and ye

Anatomical study of four species of Heliotropium L. (Borgaginaceae) from Saudi Arabia

The leaf anatomy and distribution of types of foliar trichome of four Heliotropium L. species have been investigated. The aim of this study is to evaluate the systematic relevance of their diversity compared to the recent findings of systematic relationships within the genus. The results of leaf anatomy patterns, especially venation, vascular system, various types of foliar trichome and localization of crystals are surprisingly of high systematic value and proof.

Pre-Culturing of Nodal Explants in Thidiazuron supplemented liquid medium improves in Vitro Shoot multiplication of Cassia Angustifolia

An in vitro propagation system for Cassia angustifolia Vahl. has been developed. Due to the presence of sennosides, the demand of this plant has increased manyfold in global market. Multiple shoots were induced by culturing nodal explants excised from mature plants on a liquid Murashige and Skoog [8] medium supplemented with 5-100 μM of thidiazuron (TDZ) for different treatment duration (4, 8, 12 and 16 d).

Analysis of essential element content of three different varieties of Saudi Arabian date palm (Phoenix dactylifera

The elements present in seeds and leaves of three varieties of Saudi Arabian date palm (Phoenix dactylifera) were analyzed by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES). In general it has been found that all the three varieties contain sound but variable amount of element content. Potassium was found to be in abundance in var. Barhee and Sukri, whereas in var. Rothana calcium content was highest. Elements Ca, Mg, Fe and Mn were observed to be higher in leaves of all three varieties than respective seeds. However reverse was found true for P and Zn content.

Management of Anthracnose of Banana by UV Irradiation

Anthracnose is a postharvest disease of banana Musa acuminata Colla caused by the fungus Colletotrichum musae Berk & Curtis. The present study was carried out to manage this pathogen in vitro and in vivo using different types of ultraviolet (UV) radiations. Two in vitro bioassays were carried out. In the first bioassay, malt extract agar medium was used in 9-cm diameter Petri plates.
