Antifungal Activity of Citrullus colocynthis against Fusarium oxysporum, Alternaria alternatak Macrophomina phaseolina and Colletotrichum musae

Four important plant pathogenic fungi were subjected to evaluate the antifungal potentiality of Citrullus colocynthis. It was recorded that the growth of Fusarium oxysporum, Alternaria alternata, Macrophomina phaseolina and Colletotrichum musae were significantly (Pd? 0.01) reduced by extract of C. colocynthis obtained by various solvents (water, acetone, ethanol, methanol and chloroform). Ethanolic extract gave the most promising results against all tested fungi. M. phaseolina was observed to be highly sensitive to the ethanol extract and zone of inhibition was 26.5 mm.

Potential of different parts of Neem (Azadirachta indica) Extracts in Controlling Rhizoctonia solani Infestation”. I

Black scurf is one of the oldest and common diseases of potato stems and stolons below the soil surface caused by Rhizoctonia solani. The present study was carried out to investigate the antifungal potential of Azadirachta indica L. against this soil-borne fungal pathogen. Different concentrations (1, 2, 3, 4, 5%) of aqueous, methanol, n-hexane and chloroform extracts of leaves, stems and fruits of A. indica were prepared and were evaluated for their in vitro antifungal activity.

Phytochemicals of Melia azedarach inhibiting the Growth of Rhizoctonia solani

Black scurf is one of the oldest and common diseases of potato stems and stolons below the soil surface caused by Rhizoctonia solani. The present study was carried out to investigate the antifungal potential of Melia azedarach against this soil-borne fungal pathogen. Different concentrations (1, 2, ?, 5%) of aqueous, methanol, n-hexane and chloroform extracts of leaves, stems and fruits of M. azedarach were prepared and were evaluated for their in vitro antifungal activity. Data were analyzed by Tukey HSD test at 5% level of significance.

Synthetic seed production and physio-biochemical studies in Cassia Angustifolia Vahl. A medicinal plant

Synthetic seed technology is an alternative to traditional micropropagation for production and delivery of cloned plantlets. Synthetic seeds were produced by encapsulating nodal segments of C. angustifolia in calcium alginate gel. 3% (w/v) sodium alginate and 100 mM CaCl2 · 2H2O were found most suitable for encapsulation of nodal segments.
