The Diagnostic Potential of Dielectric Properties, Telomerase Activity and Cytokeratin 20 in Urine Cells of Bladder Cancer Patients

Aim of the study: This work aims to search for markers
suitable for the screening of bladder cancer, which
should be specific, sensitive, reproducible, non-invasive and at acceptable cost.
Patients and methods: The study included 45 patients diagnosed as bladder cancer (30 TCC, 15 SCC) of
different stages and grades, 20 patients with various urothelial diseases, besides 15 healthy volunteers of matched
age and sex to the malignant group.
A random midstream urine sample was collected in a sterile container for the determination of telomerase by

Enhanced Ehrlich tumor inhibition using DOX-NP and gold nanoparticles loaded liposomes

Treatment with doxorubicin (DOX) is a common treatment for different types of cancer. DOX-NP is one of a
well established marketed liposomal formulation for DOX. It has advantages over free DOX in reducing the cardiac
toxicity and increasing the efficacy. Gold nanoparticles (GNPs), have been widely used in biomedical applications such
as medical imaging and biosensors. Mice bearing Ehrlich tumor were injected with saline, free doxorubicin (DOX) in
solution, gold nanoparticles loaded liposomes and commercial liposomal encapsulated doxorubicin (DOX-NP). The

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) offer a great promising in biomedical applications and their size has been shown
to be important parameters that affect the particles uptake and cellular imbibition. The presented dielectric data indicates
that AuNPs have well characteristic dispersion in the alpha relaxation region. The presented work aims to characterize
and improve the quality control of AuNPs, define the benefit combination effects of size and gamma irradiation on the
properties of AuNPs dielectric relaxation spectroscopy.

Targeting doxorubicin encapsulated in stealth liposomes to solid tumors by non-thermal diode laser.

Background: The use of liposomes as drug delivery systems is the most promising technique for targeting drug
especially for anticancer therapy.
Methods: In this study sterically stabilized liposomes was prepared from DPPC/Cholesterol/PEG-PE encapsulated
doxorubicin. The effect of lyophilization on liposomal stability and hence expiration date were studied. Moreover,
the effect of diode laser on the drug released from liposomesin vitro and in vivo in mice carrying implanted solid
tumor were also studied.

Quantitative imaging characteristics of zirconium-89 on Gemini Time-Of-Flight PET/CT.

Purpose: Interest in PET imaging using zirconium-89 (89Zr) (t1/2=78.41 h)-labeled tracers for the tracking and quantification of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) is growing, mainly because of its well-matched physical half-life with the biological half-life of intact mAbs. This study aims to evaluate the imaging characteristics of 89Zr-PET in comparison with those obtained using fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) PET (gold standard tracer in PET imaging) using a Time-Of-Flight (TOF) PET/computed tomography (CT) scanner.

Phys 104

The course has been designed to explain the basic principles of electricity and magnetism for the students.  The student realizes, at the beginning, the meaning of the electric charges and their reaction with each others as well as their effect on the surrounding space.  After that, the concept of the electric energy is introduced to connect the topic of electricity with other topics in physics.    Furthermore, the concept of the direct current and the electric energy consumption are introduced; accordingly, the student will be able to understand how to calculate the electricity cost.  Ther
