In 1991 Clayman et al. described the first successful laparoscopic nephrectomy . Since that time, laparoscopic radical nephrectomy for renal tumors has been routinely preformed in select patients worldwide. During this period, “elective” open partial nephrectomy has established itself as an efficacious therapeutic approach in the treatment of small renal masses similar to that of radical nephrectomy in select patients with a small renal tumor.
A male factor can be attributed to almost 50% of all causes of infertility. Hypofertile men are being increasingly investigated in an effort to find a treatable cause or to rule out more serious underlying conditions such as cancer
Urology Training Program Overview:
This is a structured 5 years postgraduate program for training in Urology. It encompasses education in basic sciences, training in cognitive and technical skills, development of clinical knowledge and maturity and acquisition of surgical judgment.
During this course medical students will be exptected to aquire the following:
The student will be able to demonstrate proper history taking, and systemic physical examination of the common surgical problems.
The student will be able to suggest and discuss an appropriate investigations and sound approach to the problem of the patients and suggestion of possible treatment.
The student will be able to take care of general surgical problems.
