This course focuses on acquiring the students the competencies for examining the theoretical and conceptual bases of nursing to encourage the student to critique, evaluate and utilize appropriate theory within their own practice. Focus will be on a variety of theories from nursing. Application, testing, and utilization of these theories to provide quality health care in the current health care delivery system will be explored.
This course enable students to acquire an understanding about nursing process model as a basis for nursing practice; and to acquire essential knowledge about physiological, psychological, cultural and developmental changes affecting human throughout their lifespan. Communication skills and infection control measures are emphasized.
This course provides a theoretical foundation for health assessment and physical
examination across the lifespan while integrating significant clinical experience to implementing knowledge in nursing practice. Students will learn methods and techniques of interview, history taking, and physical examination, common and important symptoms. Furthermore, assessment of mental status will also be included. Critical thinking skills are applied to analyse data in identifying nursing and collaborative problems.
