The Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short Form Survey (SF-36) is a widely used measure of health-related quality of life and normative reference values have been published for the general population of several countries. Since injured workers often experience pain, disability and other health challenges, we evaluated SF-36 reference values for Canadian workers' compensation claimants undergoing rehabilitation.
The course focuses on a comprehensive presentation of mechanisms of injuries to bones, joints, soft tissues and their treatment. The course materials also introduce students to medical and physiotherapeutic assessment, planning and treatment. This includes clinical signs, diagnoses, medical and physical therapy management, prognoses and complications.
The course aims to teach students the principles of and therapeutic skills of occupational health and injuries. It also aims to introduce students to the basic principles of assessment and treatment for injured workers with any problem related to his/her jobs in order to stay/return to work. The course also provides a general introduction to ergonomics and its implications, different aids and facilities that can be used to facilitate return to work process and/or prevent work related injuries and disabilities.
The course prepares and trains the students to examine and treat orthopedic conditions from a physical therapy scope of practice. The course also discusses common orthopedic and rheumatic conditions including their findings and manageme.
