The course is concerned about the study of antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal agents. The areas emphasized in this course are: Structure activity relationship, mode of actions and resistances, therapeutic uses, adverse effects, contraindications and drug interactions.

The course includes the study of the general principles of toxicology, prevention and management of poisoning, the mechanism(s) of toxicity of commonly used drugs, commonly encountered chemicals, drugs affecting maternal, foetal and neonatal health, and chemical carcinogenesis.
