A modular fixture system is a flexible alternative to a dedicated fixture. In this paper, an automatic modular fixture design system is suggested for creating prismatic parts. The system contains fixture planning, fixture modelling, and fixture assembly. The part geometrical database and process plans are considered as inputs to the system. A rulebased method is applied to assign the feasible locating scheme and the locating and clamping datum. The search strategy is designed to determine the most suitable locating and clamping points.

In this paper, a computer aided die design system is presented for the medication tablets strip. The system is constructed using visual basic program under AutoCAD environment. The system produces the die design both in 2D and 3D. In 2D, the system results the die in 3 different projections (elevation, side view and plan). In 3D module, the system successfully produced the part as one piece to be able for machining at CNC machines.

Due to high cost of die in sheet metal forming, conventional forming processes are suitable only for high-volume production. However the pattern of demand for sheet metal product has undergone a change, which necessitates small-batch sizes. Single point incremental forming is a die-less forming process and can be employed for customizes sheet metal products made in small quantity. Though the cost of the die is less, the cost of machine tool is high in this case.
