The course will cover the techniques and clinical uses of the various massage manipulation through practical demonstration and practice sessions. Attention of the students will be drawn to the specific clinical application of each massage manipulation, the physiological and therapeutic effects, as well as their dangers and contraindication. Teaching and learning in this course will be through practice on human models in the laboratory.
The course is designed to explore those factors affecting the health and well-being of aging people. It will cover the relationship between the process of aging and behavior in such areas as sensory, personality and cognitive functioning. Other subjects will include the principle and practice of geriatric rehabilitation based on the theories of aging. Social, cultural influences and age-related changes in accommodation to the physical environment will be discussed.
