Hints & Approaches for Solving Physics Problems

Hints & Approaches for Solving Physics Problems

  • Read the problem very carefully a couple times.
  • Draw a picture of the problem.
  • Determine the dimensions of the problem.

For example, is it 1-dimensional, 2-dimensional, or 3-dimensional?

  • Pick positive (+) directions for each dimension.
  • Write down all of the given data and information.

For example, mass, velocity, time, charge, voltage

Course Objectives

 (Course Objectives)

After completing this course, students will be able to:

Assessing correlation between students perception of the learning environment and their academic performance.

OBJECTIVE:

To assess the association between the learning environment and academic performance at medical colleges.

METHODS:

The cross-sectional study was conducted in four medical colleges in 2014 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Online questionnaire was sent to final year medical students. It included demographic profile, the last Grade Point Average, and the Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure. Data was analysed using SPSS 17.

RESULTS:

Is it safe to use frova airway intubating device during tracheal intubation in difficult airway patient with multiple and chest trauma?

Traumatic chest injury is one of the leading causes of death in motor vehicle accident (MVA). A complete tracheobronchial injury occurred in 1% of trauma cases and most of the cases died before arrival to the emergency department. We report a 37-year-old female involved in MVA presented to the emergency room (ER) with normal vital signs. Ten minutes later, her saturation dropped to 75%, which required ventilation; however, two attempts for endotracheal intubation failed. The third time frova airway intubating introducer used and succeeded.

Mortality of emergency abdominal surgery in high-, middle- and low-income countries.

BACKGROUND:
Surgical mortality data are collected routinely in high-income countries, yet virtually no low- or middle-income countries have outcome surveillance in place. The aim was prospectively to collect worldwide mortality data following emergency abdominal surgery, comparing findings across countries with a low, middle or high Human Development Index (HDI).

Effect of Insulin Therapy using Hyper-insulinemic Normoglycemic Clamp on Inflammatory Response in Brain Dead Organ Donors

BACKGROUND:

Brain death is a major stress that is associated with a massive inflammatory response and systemic hyperglycemia. Severe inflammation leads to increased graft immunogenicity and risk of graft dysfunction; while acute hyperglycemia aggravates the inflammatory response and increases the risk of morbidity and mortality. Insulin therapy not only controls hyperglycemia but also suppresses inflammation. The present study is to investigate the anti-inflammatory properties and the normoglycemia maintenance of high dose insulin on brain dead organ donors.

Controlling Temperature and Relative Humidity in Greenhouses Using a Liquid Desiccant Dehumidification System

Although evaporative cooling systems are beneficial in greenhouses, relative humidity is increased. Some increase in relative humidity reduces evapotranspiration and can be beneficial for plants. However, above certain levels, problems with diseases and fungi occur. Thus, it would be beneficial to find a way to utilize evaporative cooling that produces cooled air below a desired humidity. This study investigated the possibility of using a flow of liquid desiccant to both reduce the humidity and the energy associated with condensation from the system.
