Reactive Oxygen Species-Mediated DNA Damage and Apoptosis in Human Skin Epidermal Cells After Exposure to Nickel Nanoparticles.

Nickel nanoparticles (NiNPs) are increasingly used in various applications due to their unique properties. However, there is little information concerning the toxicity of NiNPs in the human skin cell (A431). The present study was designed to investigate the cytotoxicity, apoptosis, and DNA damage due to NiNPs in A431 cells. A cellular proliferative capacity test showed that NiNPs induce significant cytotoxicity in a dose- and time-dependent manner.

.Protective Effect of Aspirin on γ Radiation Induced Chromosomal Aberrations in Swiss Albino Male Mice

The objective of this investigation was to develop and evaluate potential radio-protective of Aspirin through assessment of structural chromosomal aberrations (CA) induced by γ-ray in Swiss Albino male mice. Aspirin at doses of 0.5, 5 and 50 mg/kg was intra-peritoneal injected to Swiss Albino male mice 72 hours before 2Gy or 4Gy doses of γ radiation exposure. Following mice exposing to 2Gy γ radiation, great structural chromosomal aberrations occurred.

Protective effect of aspirin on γ radiation-induced sperm malformations in Swiss Albino male mice

This study evaluated the effects of γ radiation on spermatozoa based on the morphological characteristics of
sperm in the caudal epididymis of SWR/J mice. In this study, various abnormal sperm shapes (amorphous heads, hook-less,
mid-piece defect, pinheads, coiled tails, and tail-less) were observed after exposure to γirradiation (2 or 4 Gy)and after
treatment with aspirin (ASA) and γ-irradiation (0.5 mg/kg + 2 or 4 Gy, 5 mg/kg + 2 or 4 Gy and 50 mg/kg + 2 or 4 Gy).

Protective Effect of Curcumin on γ-radiation Induced Chromosome Aberrations in Human Blood Lymphocytes. Saudi Journal of Biological Science

The present work is aimed at evaluating the radioprotective effect of curcumin on γ-radiation induced genetic toxicity. The DNA damage was analyzed by the frequencies of chromosome aberrations  assay. Human lymphocytes were treated in vitro with 5.0 μg/ml of curcumin for 30 min at 37 °C then exposed to 1, 2 and 4 Gy gamma-radiation.

CHROMOSOMAL ABERRATION ANALYSIS AMONG UNDERGROUND WATER WELLWORKERS IN SAUDI ARABIA

In the absence of permanent rivers or bodies of water, half of the Saudi Arabia domestic water consumption is provided
through desalination. The other half is derived from groundwater. Groundwater from the Disi aquifer is already used for drinking
water in parts of Jordan and, more extensively, in Saudi Arabia, where it is known as the Saq aquifer. Some of the geological
analyses of the host sandstone aquifer rocks show 228Ra and 226Ra. The usefulness of chromosomal aberrations
