COURSE REQUIREMENTS

By the end of this course students should be able to: 

1. Demonstrate knowledge of the characteristics of the English language during the various stages of its development, including the various cultural and linguistic forces that shape English from its Indo-European beginnings to the 19th century and after.

It is preferable that students take the following two pre-requisite translation courses for taking Eng 411: Eng 118 (Translation E-A) and Eng 212 (Translation I). Students in Eng 411 (Translation II) course are expected to attend all lectures throughout the semester.
