The aim of this study was to review our initial experience with the introduction of carotid artery angioplasty and stenting as a treatment for carotid stenosis in high-risk patients and compare clinical outcomes to carotid endarterectomy patients treated over the same time period at our center.
Angiopoietins are ligands for Tie-2 receptors and play important roles in angiogenesis and inflammation. While angiopoietin-1 (Ang-1) inhibits inflammatory responses, angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2) promotes cytokine production and vascular leakage.
