Forced convection heat transfer over horizontal triangular cylinder in cross flow,

Experimental investigations have been reported on steady state forced convection heat transfer from the outer surface of horizontal triangular surface cylinders in cross flow of air. Two different horizontal positions are considered; one when the vertex of the triangle faces the flow and the other when the flat surface faces the flow. Four equilateral triangular cylinders have been used with cross section side length of 0.03, 0.05, 0.08 and 0.12 m, corresponding to blockage ratios 0.066, 0.110, 0.175 and 0.263 respectively.

Convective heat transfer around a triangular cylinder in an air cross flow

Two dimensional laminar forced convection heat transfer around horizontal triangular cylinder in air is investigated numerically. Equilateral triangular cylinder of different side dimensions and configurations are examined under laminar conditions (Re £ 200). Two configurations of the triangular cylinders are considered; one when the vertex of the triangle facing the flow and the other when the base of the triangle facing the flow. The computational procedure is based on the finite volume technique.

Numerical Study of Conduction and Convection Heat losses from a Half-Insulated Air-Filled Annulus of the Receiver of a Parabolic Trough Collector

Grid-quality parabolic trough collectors utilize expensive receivers that maintain vacuum in their annuli to reduce convection losses. On the other hand, receivers with air-filled annuli, currently used mainly for process heat applications, are significantly less expensive, but their thermal performance is inferior to evacuated receivers. A promising technique that can bridge the cost and performance gap between the two types of receivers is introduced in this work.

Numerical Modeling of Natural Convection Heat Transfer Around Horizontal Triangular Ducts

Laminar natural convection heat transfer from uniformly heated horizontal cylinders of triangular cross section is investigated numerically in air.  Different cylinder cross section dimensions and orientations are examined under laminar conditions.

Discovering and manufacturing a new natural insulating material extracted from a plant grows up in Saudi Arabia

Insulating materials are very important in our daily life. They are used in building walls, refrigerators, some electrical devices, in insulating the electrical cables and in many other applications. This study presents experimental work done to determine the thermal conductivity of a new insulating natural material. This new material is extracted and developed from a plant, which grows in the desert areas of Saudi Arabia. Experimental results show that

Heat transfer between a vertical water jet and a horizontal square surface

Flow visualization was used to measure hydraulic jump radius on square plate. Heat transfer between water jet and a horizontal square surface was investigated experimentally for different jets and square sizes. Effects flow rates on heat transfer were investigated. The data represented in terms of Nusselt number as function of Reynolds and Peclet numbers. Correlation for Nusselt number in terms of Peclet number and L/Di was obtained. The proposed correlation well predicts the current data of heat transfer
