Course Objective:

The course introduces the principles and concepts of electronic business with focus on ecommerce. It provides an understanding of the many aspects that shape electronic commerce systems. Topics include ecommerce infrastructure, the World Wide Web, online business models, online security, payment systems and marketing. Students will also examine the challenges and limitations triggered by the deployment and expanded use of electronic commerce systems, including the ethical, social and political problems.  

The course revolves around two issues: Model building in engineering applications, and characterization of solutions and algorithms for finding solutions. During the course the advanced topics in Linear Programming will be surveyed, and the concepts and methods of nonlinear optimization (unconstrained and constrained) will be introduced.

This course deals with the study of recent developments in manufacturing, Japanese manufacturing techniques, hybrid manufacturing management system, supply chain management, total quality management, design for manufacturing and assembly. Objective is to provide an opportunity to the student to gain in-depth knowledge of ERP, Just in time, Push – Pull and hybrid production systems, total quality manufacturing, and Supply chain management.

This course is designed to deepen the student's knowledge of modeling and solving such real-world problems using advanced operations research techniques. The course is also designed to give the students an ability to analyze the results obtained from the application of Operations Research techniques for decision making.
