The economic importance of horticultural crops - environmental conditions suitable for vegetables, fruit and ornamental production - the various agricultural operations, "fertilization, irrigation, pruning, propagation, pest and disease control". Handling and storage of horticultural crops. Species and varieties of vegetables, fruits and ornamental plants, which enjoys under the environmental conditions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This course cover is an introduction to plant production. It introduces the relation between plant production and human civilization, and world food problem. The course cover crop taxonomy, plant production and environmental factors. It introduces agricultural practices, cropping systems for field and horticultural crops, plant propagation and treatments, harvest preparation and storage of agricultural crops and it introduces new technologies in plant production. The course gives an over view of plant production in Saudi Arabia.

Biomes. Concept and importance of biodiversity in ecosystems. Geographical distribution of plants and animals. Rid regions: geogrraphy, characteristics, and its effect on biotic components. Biodiversity in deserts, ranges, and forests. Biodiversity in aquatic ecosystems.

This course provides and introduction to the history of Microbiology and physiology and morphology of bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses. Topics to be covered include microbial growth and death, culture media, methods for the detection of microbial growth and methods of control and destruction.

تقويم المقرر : 100 درجة موزعة  40 درجة للأختبارالنهائي + 60 درجة للأعمال الفصلية  مفصلة كالاتي :

1. الإلقاء والعرض لمشروع بحثي        30 درجة ( 15 درجة لكل من أعداد ومحتوى البحث و15 درجة للإلقاء والعرض).

2. الحضور والمواظبة      10 درجات .

3. أختبار فصلي واحد  20 درجة.
