The first part of this course is designed to provide 5th Year dental student an awareness to the principles and activities of Dental Public Health, in addition to knowledge on the application of sciences of epidemiology and biostatistics in dental public health. The second part of the course will explore the concepts of the dental public health in the light of the oral health problems in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

An overview of the management of dental practice. Lectures will cover the core values, informed consent, jurisprudence, planning of dental facilities, resource application, personnel and budget management, organizing and patient scheduling recall systems, dental record management, inventory control, and staff/ patient inter-action.

Philosophy and clinical practice of oral prophylactic procedures, emphasis on areas of particular concern including the knowledge and understanding the necessary plan of preventive programs, to educate the patients in the practice of effective preventive dentistry and to practice diet analysis and counseling procedures.
