أولاً : أهداف المقرر:

The course aims to introduce students to the processes of comparing, contrasting, and formulating typical Arabic and English constructions through hands-on practical translation of sentences based on grammatical principles.

The aim of this course is two-fold:
(i) to introduce students to the subject matter and methodology of linguistics;
(ii) to teach students how to recognize and analyze systematic patterns in language, in other words, how to perform linguistic analysis.
After a brief introduction, the course provides an overview of the following subfields of linguistics: morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics.
