A Novel route for the preparation of thermally sensitive magnetic particles

This study has developed a novel route for the synthesis of the thermoresponsive core-shell nanoparticles that consist of the magnetite core and the poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (poly(NIPAAm) shell in aqueous medium. Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) were coated first with oleic acid (OA) and then vinyl carboxylic acid-β-cyclodextrin (MAH-β-CD). The OA-MNPs and the MAH-β-CD-MNPs showed mono-dispersion in n-hexane and aqueous medium, respectively.

Adsorption of bromo-phenol blue from an aqueous solution onto thermally evacuated surface of the granular charcoal

The adsorption phenomenon of bromo-phenol blue onto pristine and thermally evacuated granular charcoal (GC) was studied via a batch technique at 25 °C. The effect of evacuation temperature on the GC surface and pore structure (e.g. pore volume and diameter) was studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), point of zero charge (PZC), proximate analysis, Brunauer, Emmett and Teller (BET) method and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). The FT-IR spectra of the samples after evacuation showed considerable decrease in the acidic functional groups.

Simultaneous Electrochemical Determination of Dopamine and Acetaminophen using Multiwall Carbon Nanotube Modified Glassy Carbon Electrode

A highly sensitive method was investigated for the simultaneous determination of dopamine (DA) and acetaminophen (AP) using acid functionalized multi-wall carbon nanotubes (f-MWCNTs) modified glassy carbon electrodes (GCEs). Both DA and AP were accumulated at the surface of f-MWCNTs modified GCE (under open circuit condition for 30 s). In differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) technique both DA and AP give sensitive oxidation peaks at 125 mV and 307 mV, respectively.

Preparation of the chitosan containing nanofibers by electrospinning chitosan-gelatin complexes

Electrospinning is an interesting technique, which provides a facile and an effective mean in producing nonwoven fibrous materials; however, for producing nanofibers, investigation of the electrospinning conditions is very important. In this study, chitosan, gelatin, and their polyelectrolyte complexes (PECs) were electrospun to prepare nonwoven nanofibrous mats. The concentrations of chitosan and gelatin solutions and electric field (kV/cm) were optimized. The solutions were then blended in different ratios (0–100%) to get electrospun nanofibrous mats.

Phlomisamide and Phlomisteriod: A New Ceramide and a New Stigmasterol Derivative from Phlomis cashmeriana

Phlomisamide (1), a new ceramide, and a new stigmasterol derivative, phlomisteriod (2), have been isolated from Phlomis cashmeriana.Their structures were elucidated by comprehensive analysis of their 1D- (1H- and 13C-NMR) and 2D-NMR (COSY, HMQC, HMBC), and HR-EI-MS data.

Spectrofluorimetric determination of fexofenadine hydrochloride in pharmaceutical preparation using silver nanoparticles

A novel sensitive fluorimetric method was investigated for the assay of fexofenadine hydrochloride (FEX) using silver nanoparticles (NPs) as a fluorescence probe. The NPs, which were prepared by chemical reduction of silver nitrate with sodium borohydride (reducing agent) in aqueous solution (without organic stabilizers) were water soluble, stable and had narrow emission band. The addition of drug to NPs solution caused considerable quenching of the emission band of silver NPs, which was likely due to the complexation of the drug to silver NPs.

Preparation of the Electrospun Chitosan Nanofiber Mats and their Applications in the Adsorption of Cu(II) and Pb(II) from solution

The metal adsorbability of the chitosan electrospun nanofiber (∼235 nm in diameter) mats was examined in an aqueous solution. The chitosan nanofiber mats (which were neutralized with potassium carbonate) showed good erosion stability in water and high adsorption affinity for metal ions in an aqueous solution. The adsorption data of Cu(II) and Pb(II) (which were determined by a spectrophotometric method) were fitted well with Langmuir isotherm indicating that mono-layer adsorption occurred on the nanofiber mats.
