MKT 301 Consumer Behavior

This course focuses on the study of the buying and consumption behavior of individuals and families and the various factors influencing their buying decisions including cultural, social, psychological, and situational factors. It discusses the principles, concepts, and theories that stem from other social sciences such as psychology, social psychology, sociology, cultural anthropology, economics, and others, and apply them to the purchasing and consumption behavior of individuals.

SLIDE: Straight Line Confict Detection and Alerting Algorithm for Multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (2017)

Conflict detection is an important research issue in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to ensure safety and collision free flights. In this paper, we first propose a comprehensive analytical framework for a three dimensional conflict detection. Then, we propose SLIDE a new Straight Line Confict Detection and Alerting Algorithm for Multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for a set of UAVs to safely share a common airspace. SLIDE is fully distributed and requires a limited state information exchange between UAVs.

Current Trends in Wireless Adhoc and sensor networks within the Realm of the Internet of Things (2017)

The proliferation of smart devices is revolutionizing our life and work styles. Billions of physical devices or objects are envisioned to be connected. These devices will be outfitted with various kinds of sensors and actuators enabled by technologies such as embedded sensing and actuating, radio frequency identification (RFID), wireless sensor networks (WSN), real-time and semantic web services. Everyday objects are becoming online, readable and controllable via Internet.

An M2M gateway-centric architecture for autonomic healing and optimising of machine-to-machine overlay networks (2017)

The machine-to-machine (M2M) technology, is expected to be one of the most promising revenue-generating services. However, to ensure the wide spread of this technology, M2M communications should be secure, fault-tolerant and self-managed. In this work, we add to the M2M gateway the self-healing and self-optimising autonomic capabilities. We couple at the M2M gateway level the host identity protocol (HIP) with the reachability protocol (REAP).

Context-aware broadcast in duty cycled wireless sensor networkse (2017)

As the energy efficiency remains a key issue in wireless sensor networks, duty-cycled mechanisms acquired much interest due to their ability to reduce energy consumption by allowing sensor nodes to switch to the sleeping state whenever possible. The challenging task is to authorize a sensor node to adopt a duty-cycle mode without inflicting any negative impact on the performance of the network. A context-aware paradigm allows sensors to adapt their functional behavior according to the context in order to enhance network performances.

How to cache in ICN-based IoT environments (2017)

Information-Centric Networking (ICN) is an emerging network paradigm based on name-identified data objects and in-network caching. Therefore, ICN contents are distributed in a scalable and cost-efficient manner. With the rapid growth of IoT traffic, ICN is intended to be a suitable architecture to support IoT networks. In fact, ICN provides unique persistent naming, in-network caching and multicast communications which reduce the data producer load and the response latency.
