DESCRIPTION

This course consists of three components, vocabulary and grammar, reading and writing, listening and speaking. The series takes students from false beginners to elementary level in the four skills listening, speaking, reading and writing. It also ensures that students can use a range of relevant vocabulary and form a basic sentence.

The listening and speaking book is designed to skills that help students understand and produce a short talk in English on a range of Topics.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course helps you hear and produce Basic English. You learn how to hear and say 200 key words in isolation and context from eight key knowledge areas.

 You will also learn to: ask about abilities;  hear and say key sounds in English;  ask about new words;  define objects;  describe objects - color and size;  describe places;  hear and say key questions;  identify key factual information in speech;  introduce yourself;  listen for examples;  predict information in a talk;  predict the next word or phrase in a sentence;  talk about facts in the past;  talk about yourself; and  understand classroom instructions.

 

 

 

ORGANIZATION

This course is divided to two parts

  • 3 Hours Listening and Speaking
  • 6 Hours Reading, Writing, Vocabulary and Grammar.

 

REQUIRED TEXTBOOK:

Terry Philips. Starting Skills in English

Each book contains 10 themes, and the topics have been repeated in all books but in each book it concentrates on specific skill.

Listening and Speaking Course grading criteria

  • 15% Semester work  (one mid-term exam, participation, and attendance)
  • 5%  Speaking Final Exam
  • 10% Listening Final Exam
