Pharmaceutical Care I

Course Educational Goals:

1. To expose students to the comprehensive process of pharmaceutical care, including data collection, identification of drug-related problems, factors to consider when formulating care plan and professional communication of therapeutic plan.

2. To give the students the opportunity to work as team to solve clinical problems

3. To give the students the opportunity to practice in a professional manner with peers, patients and other healthcare professionals (when applicable).

Course Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this course the student should be able to:

1. Learn interviewing skills

2. Formulate a comprehensive approach to identify drug related problems

3. Collect, organize, analyze, and evaluate patient-specific information.

4. Formulate, implement and monitor a specific therapeutic plan for patient’s drug related problems

5. Professionally communicate pharmaceutical care plan to patients and other healthcare professionals.

6. Acquire skills to give and receive critical evaluation on peers presentations and clinical care plan.

7. Apply drug information skills in searching and assessing medical literature for evidence relevant to a patient case
