biological situations during the reproductive period of life to achieve high quality maternity .

COURSE OBJECTIVES
- Discuss relevant nursing theories and concepts and adopt them as an approach in caring of normal childbearing families .
- Specify assessment & scoring techniques related to the management of pregnant Women.
- Identify available community resources for changing family needs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of various pharmacological agents used during the perinatal period.
- Implement teaching and nursing care that is specific to the client's level of development, knowledge and based upon established nursing protocols.
- Discuss the impact of current issues related to childbearing women’s health.
- Demonstrate teaching/learning principles which assist in the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health for the childbearing family.
- Incorporate therapeutic communication and critical thinking when evaluating family dynamics related to pregnancy and the changing family role.
- Apply the nursing process to families in maternal health care settings .
- Apply appropriate management for women during pregnancy .
- Apply evidence based theoretical concepts to assess and focus on pregnant women needs.
- Interpret and manage effectively any situation facing the childbearing women .
- Build up consolidated team work , wisely deal with critical situations at any area of maternity care .

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
- All examinations will be based upon the principle concepts and theory presented in the module objectives and all objectives outlined at the beginning of each lecture in the text. Examinations will cover class lectures and assigned reading.
- It is expected that students will write examinations at scheduled times. Special arrangements may be made for rescheduling by contacting the instructor prior to the examination. This privilege will be granted for unusual circumstances only.
