PDS 576: Case Analysis and Treatment Plan
This course is given to Pediatric Dentistry 3RD year Postgraduate Students. It is a continuation of similar courses given in the first and second year.
The OBJECTIVES of the course include the following:
1. To facilitate exchange of ideas regarding various approaches towards management of the cases presented.
2. Discussion of cases that is aimed at advantages and disadvantages of the alternative approach to treatment, rather than criticism of the individual operator's treatment.
3. That the presenter cites current literature related to the cases presented.
4. The presenter should be able to demonstrate thorough knowledge regarding the proposed treatment plan and be able to justify the basis of the treatment decision.
CASE PRESENTATION GUIDELINES:
Each student will identify a patient case that has or should have involved a therapeutic or ethical intervention and/or dilemma. The student will present the case in a formal presentation.
FORMAT:
Each presentation should be of 50 minutes duration including:
- Presentation of the case
- Review and discussion of literature.
While slides, models and radiographs are important for full evaluation of the cases to be discussed, there are occasional cases where some of the above may not be available. In such cases, it is important to explain the reason(s).
The presentation should include:
• Handout (2 to 4 slides per page) that include the case presentation and the literature review
• PowerPoint slides
