I am working as Anatomist, Embryologist, Neurologist and a researcher at College of Medicine, King Saud University Riyadh Saudi Arabia for last 12 year. After working for one year in a tertiary care hospital as an intern in Karachi Pakistan, I moved to Chiba Japan in Professor Yutaka Shimada’s lab in 1992 as a research fellow, where I spent two years. With my hardship & guidance of Prof. Shimada I was fortunate enough to get the Japanese Government scholarship (MONBUSHO) & started my PhD in April, 1994. After four years, I successfully obtained my PhD degree in March 1998. My thesis during PhD was about Dystrophin a protein product of the Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Above all I learned a lot from rich Japanese culture. (Aah So disu ka) the phrase use as polite Japanese nature is still part of my life. In March 1998.
I started my professional career in April 1998 as Assistant Professor of Anatomy in Isra University Hyderabad Pakistan.
After serving 5 years in Pakistan I joined the Department of Anatomy, College of Medicine, King Saud University Riyadh Saudi Arabia in October 2003 and till date I am working here.
In 2005 I tossed up an idea of creating a stem cell unit within the department which was highly appreciated and the unit is presently working with very high swing. In 2006 I started a NO SMOKING campaign among the preclinical medical student for that more than 500 students quite smoking. I published a research article on the topic in an international journal. In 2009 & 2010 in collaboration with clinical physiology department of King Saud University I started working on environmental health sciences, for which I mainly focused on exposure of formaldehyde in anatomy labs & radiations released by mobile phones among general population. These studies were published in peer review scientific journals and were highly cited & appreciated. Now for almost 12 years, I am coordinator for research project-writing & research-conducting course for third year medical students group on yearly basis. Mentoring the elective courses for students for their future planning.
I have four daughters & a son. Most of my life I lived in housing campus provided by University where people from more than 25 different nationalities are residing so that I have no hesitation in saying that me and my children are developed in true multicultural environment. I am so happy to serve in KSU.
