434 - Sterile Dosage Forms

The material in this course is designed to familiarize students with the Physiochemical properties as well as the design and formulation of injectable and ophthalmic dosage forms; including isotonicity, acid-base properties as well as sterilization principles and techniques. The following subjects will be covered: Introduction to sterile dosage form, Composition of sterile dosage form, Characteristics of sterile dosage forms, Methods of Sterilization, Large scale preparation of sterile products, Parentral manufacturing in hospitals, Handling and administration, Large volume sterile solutions, Fundamental of fluids and electrolyte therapy, Parentral admixtures and incompatibilities, Convenience of parental preparation, Packaging, and Ophthalmic preparation.
